The Pittsburgh Project

The COVID-19 pandemic had and continues to have profound physical and psychological impacts among communities around the globe. Multiple research studies present a somber landscape marked by heightened rates of depression, anxiety, and substance use, among other afflictions from the ordeal.   Yet, amidst this chaos, a beacon of hope has emerged: the transformative power of artistic expression. Art uplift spirits and soothes souls, offering sanctuary in the wake of disaster

Art Heals Opening Flyer

The artists and their works were captured through the lens of photographer Justin Merrimant, the in-person installation was developed by creative designer Sophie Maliphant, and the virtual gallery was created by Mrigaja Bajracharya and Marie Ange Holmgren-Sylvain. Through photographs and accompanying quotes, the exhibition showcases the artists’ unique visions and voices.

ART Heals Pittsburgh invites viewers to contemplate the role of art in our lives—especially during times of crisis and in the aftermath and recovery. It emphasizes the enduring ability of the human spirit to find solace, inspiration, and healing through artistic expression.
