Marie-Ange Holmgren-Sylvain is a communications expert and gallery owner of Image Ark Nepal. Ange has worked 30 years for the United Nations as a filmmaker and communication specialist in many countries before creating her agency and joining the very short list of creative agencies around the world led by women.

Born in Haiti, she traveled the world documenting development issues, creating art and exhibitions on development and social issues. She is the recipient of several awards for her work and her art is on permanent display at the UN conference Centre in Bangkok, Thailand. Marie-Ange was a co-investigator for the Art Heals project.

“Giving people an opportunity to have conversations about art is a crucial step in healing as a community. In our gallery we had art classes for children that several adults joined. Almost all the art created represented the Dharahara tower standing. This shows what was foremost in people’s mind at that time, united in their grief: If the tallest tower could fall, what about us?”
